With the ability to not only offer storage and space in your kitchen, cabinetry also has the added bonus of being able to set the look or feel of your kitchen. A more organic look to your kitchen can be achieved by using wooden cabinets, and a clear varnish to finish them. However, you can give your kitchen a more contemporary or slightly more sophisticated look by using custom-made stainless steel options for your cabinetry needs. There are a few things to consider, however, before you make your determination.

What Material Should I Use?

When it comes to cabinets, there seem to be 4 different materials that you can consider.

Laminate: Generally the least expensive of the options, laminate cabinetry can be found in nearly any color or pattern.

Wood: Also available in a variety of colors and finishes, as well as different types of wood. Wood cabinets are considered to be a very durable option.

Metal: Durable, and easy to clean. However, metal can tend to be pricier than wood options, as the metal most commonly chosen is that of stainless steel.

Glass: For cabinets, glass can assist in allowing light to really move throughout the space of your kitchen. However, your dishes- and everything else you may choose to keep in your cabinets- become exceedingly noticeable, and it is important that everything in the cabinets should be worth displaying and organized accordingly.

Stock, Semi-Custom, or Totally Custom-Made?
Your overall style, and your budget, is the most important factors to consider when deciding whether your cabinetry should be stock, semi-custom, or custom-made. While there is a vast array of options available, stock cabinetry is manufactured in only a limited number of materials, options, and widths. Semi-custom cabinetry options offer a wider variety of options, however are not limitless, as they aren’t custom-made. With custom-made cabinet, you have the ability to tally have your cabinets created exactly to your every specification.
